Oriental Amphora, similar to Crypta Balbi Style. 6th-7th Centuries A.D
Together with North African amphora, oriental amphora also arrived in the city during the Byzantine era. In this case, it is a medium-sized container with a pointed, ridged body, finished by a small cylindrical foot and base. It probably held the famous Gaza wine, as mentioned in numerous sources, such as by Isidoro de Sevilla (Etym. 20,3,7).
