LANDSCAPE OF TIME

The history of Cartagena is told by its stones, its architecture and its urban landscape through a silent language that complements an unparalleled natural landscape for three thousand years, chosen by Carthaginians, shaped and enlarged by Rome, modified by Byzantines and Visigoths, occupied by Arabs and Christianized after the reconquest to this day.

A natural harbor with almost unique characteristics that has given rise to a pioneering city in the development of architecture and in the introduction of new styles, all of them bearers of the idiosyncrasy of its people, representative of their values and aspirations.

The exhibition shows us how strolling through the city is like stepping into a magnificently disordered yet remarkably clear timeline ; how the routes invite us to dream and tell stories with the power to transport us to different places and eras against the backdrop of the sea, an essential element capable of both uniting and blurring the transitions. A landscape bathed in a unique light that merges with a sky that takes us to infinity and then returns us to the sea.

The enjoyment of art and history is a common good to which everyone, regardless of their condition, has the right to access; therefore, each of the photographs in the exhibition has three videos that we link through QR codes; one of them intended for the general public, the second focused on children and the third with a narration adapted to people with visual disabilities, all of them subtitled so that they are accessible to people with hearing disabilities.
