COURSE: Admired reviled, FORGOTTEN: WOMEN OF ANCIENT ROME
4 and 8 March
On the occasion of the celebration of International Women's Day and the opening of the traveling exhibition WOMEN ROME THROUGH ART COMIC, we wanted to schedule a seminar that addresses the necessary reflection on the present achievements and future challenges approach, but that leads us to look to the past, to understand that not always easy to equality between men and women process.
In Mediterranean countries, this historical perspective goes through addressing the classical world, the experience of the women of ancient Rome, now powerful and influential matrons, women prays under the tutelage of parents and esposos¿
archeology, art, the texts of poets and writers, or right, help us to understand a complex and diverse panorama, which is not always easy to see beyond stereotypes.
Admired, reviled, olvidadas¿ and now remembered.
