Corridor History
The museum tour begins in this corridor, which explains the evolution of the solar urban theatre from the twenty-first century to the first century. It illustrates from the archaeological objects recovered during the excavation, drawings, photographs and audio-visual pieces, the history of the place from Neighborhood of Fishermen (XVIII to XX centuries), following with the old poor quarter ( centuries XVI to XVII ), the arabic district called Qartayanna Al Halfa , the ancient port neighborhood byzantine , destroyed by Suintila in 625, and her transformation of the theater at market in the middle of the century V a.C., in order to immediately go in the first large Court of exposures.
The exhibition of plates, jugs, pots and other everyday objects discovered on digs allows us to get a glimpse of the lives if the inhabitants of a neighbourhood that, throughout history, was always part of the city, and experienced periods of prosperity and decadence.
At the end of the corridor, and through a virtual recreation, visitors will come to understand how the development of the neighbourhood throughout history deleted all trace of the Roman Theatre until its excavation.
